Research in health systems and its relationship with nursing services

Abstract

The constitution of the field called research in Health Systems and Services (ISSS) has a historical development at the end of the 60's. Carvalheiro JR, among other authors rescues substantive issues, the first of which is the identification between the ISSS and the called operational research, which by definition, part of the traditional dichotomy between pure and applied science. Affirming that the first is essentially concerned with the understanding of fundamental phenomena, while the second is concerned with the practical use of that knowledge.
