Complications in thrombolysis in acute myocardial infarction

This paper was undertaken to study the complications which appear during the course of intravenous administering of streptokinase, during acute myocardial infarction. 67 patients under age 65, with less than 6 hours of the infarction, received 1.5 million units of streptokinase per hour.
The findings were: in the majority less bleeding at the site of the I. V. catheter, central catheter, venipuncture and gum bleeding. Mayor bleeding such as hematuria and digestive tract bleeding were considerably diminished, as well as anaphylactic allergic reactions such as rash, headache and fever.
None of the patients required blood transfusion, nor use of steroids. There was no mortality related with this procedure.
