The demographic, economic, political and social changes that the country is undergoing, configure a different environment in the health disease process of the Mexican population, which makes necessary the adaptation of health policies, for this reason, the National Development Plan includes within its sectoral programs, structural reforms in the systems.
In relation to the area of health, the Reform to the National Health System proposes, as one of its objectives, to improve the quality of services through the restructuring of institutions.
In this framework and from the current needs in the field of Social Security and in an incessant search for ways to improve the provision of their services, the IMSS was reformed and began a new stage of development oriented towards more effective schemes of quality management .
In order to join this process, the Coordinators of Nursing Programs, from the Benefits Directorate, identified and raised the need to participate in decision-making, through the presentation of proposals that made it possible to improve the short-term aspects related to the Nursing practice, taking into account that the participation of this group is fundamental in the health care process.
