Dear Editor:
We have read with interest the article entitled “Evaluation of fall risk with the J.H. Downton modified in hospitalized pediatric patients ”, published in volume 26, number 1, whose objective was to identify the risk factors of fall in this population. However, there are some inconsistencies regarding the scale they present. It is mentioned, both in the summary and in the methodology, that the instrument has six dimensions and that the high risk score is greater than 2, and the low risk score less than 2, which is not correct.
The modified instrument has seven dimensions, since the age (greater or less than six years), is considered as a dimension in itself, and a rating of up to 3 points is considered as low risk, and more than 3, as high risk .
