Abstract

In resolution WHA55.23, the Health Assembly requested the Director-General to submit a progress report on the integrated prevention of non-communicable diseases to the Executive Board at its 113th session and to develop a strategy on the regimen food, physical activity and health within the framework of the WHO renewed strategy for the prevention and control of noncommunicable diseases. Other measures requested were to ensure that the global strategy had as a guiding principle the application of multidisciplinary and multisectoral criteria, to strengthen collaboration with other organizations of the United Nations system and other partners, including the World Bank, non-governmental organizations, international organizations and the private sector, for the implementation of plans at the global and interregional levels, and to promote capacity-building at the national level
