Abstract

Introduction: Geriatric patients are always at risk to present pressure ulcers. Complications related with infection and mobility are frequent. The nursing care is decisive for the prediction, prevention and treatment of it.

Methodology: Type of study prospective-transversal. Sample non-probabilistic for convenience, with 30 patients A survey with 17 items and a 4 points observation guide were applied to evaluate the nursing care that the nurse should carry out. Descriptive statistics were used.

Results: Lack of mobilization was the most factor that affected the patients. With 57% of active exercises and 47% of changing devices. The most frequent ages affected were from 60 to 64 years old, in 60% male sex and a time of appearance from 2 to 51 days.

Discussion: Mobilization is an important factor to avoid the formation of pressure ulcers. This is one of the cares that the nursing personnel should carry out.

Conclusions: The relevant factor that affected the presence of pressure ulcers was the immovilization.
