Abstract
On the occasion of International Nurse Day, celebrated every day on 12 May when the birth of Florence Nightingale is commemorated, this year the International Council of Nurses (ICN) has chosen the theme Nurses, a voice to lead, achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), with the purpose of creating awareness, first within the nursing profession about what are the SDGs and their importance; also among the population, governments and other decision-making bodies on the contribution that nurses make to the achievement of SDGs. The Sustainable Development Goals (UN, 2015) are based on the success of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and address issues that affect people, the planet, prosperity, peace and alliances.
