Patient-centered care and interprofessional collaborative practice

Abstract

The relevance of the relationship between patient-centered care and collaborative interprofessional practice lies in mutual and bi-directional influence, through which the organization of team work in health services is established.

There are three elements that together define patient-centered care, the interrelation between them, transcends the different professional categories in the context of public health policies:

• Expanded perspective of health care
• Participation of the patient in their own care and social participation
• Interprofessional relationship and between the professional and the patient
