The regulating center of the temperature is in the hypothalamus, it has two centers and acts as a thermostat; The anterior hypothalamus governs heat loss through vasodilatation of the skin and sweating when the temperature of the organism rises.

The posterior hypothalamus is responsible for the preservation of heat, as well as produce more heat when the temperature of the organism drops through a vasoconstriction, the patient feels cold producing the chill.
