Open Access Policy and Principles of Responsible Research Assessment
The Revista de Enfermería del Instituto Mexicano del Seguro Social (RE-IMSS) is firmly committed to the free, equitable, and ethical dissemination of scientific knowledge in the fields of nursing, health sciences, social sciences, and the humanities. Accordingly, all journal content is published on an open access basis and is made available immediately and free of charge in digital format, with no fees charged to authors or readers.
The open access model promoted by RE-IMSS is founded on the principle that scientific knowledge is a public good and that its free circulation contributes to strengthening professional and interprofessional practice, interdisciplinary research, and the improvement of population health. Consequently, the journal’s content may be accessed, downloaded, distributed, and used for academic and non-commercial purposes, provided that appropriate credit is given to the authors and the original source, in accordance with the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial (CC BY-NC) license or any other license currently adopted by the journal.
Commitment to the DORA Declaration
In accordance with the principles of the San Francisco Declaration on Research Assessment (DORA), RE-IMSS adheres to a policy of responsible assessment of scholarly output. The journal promotes the evaluation of published works on the basis of their intrinsic quality, methodological rigor, social impact, and contribution to knowledge, rather than on metrics derived from journal impact factors or the venue of publication.
The journal encourages institutions, reviewers, and authors to adopt assessment practices that recognize the diversity of research approaches, local relevance, collaborative work, and the open communication of data and results. It also promotes transparency in editorial and peer review processes and the visibility of all intellectual contributions, in accordance with international best practices in open science.
