Abstract

Disasters in México, at this time, require people to have not only a real preparation for them but also a culture to them. The following examples seems to be an irony: on September 26th, 1999 a bomb exploded due to blastholes near Celaya´s downtown, in Mexico. This event left a dozen of deaths and 450 badly wounded people. Four days later, Mexico suffered a natural disaster, an earthquake of 7.4 Richter, and only reported 35 deaths. This trembling seemed to have origin at Oaxaca coasts although states at the proximity and Mexico City felt it. The disasters above mentioned make people to be conscious of the cause-effect issues on that kind of phenomena and the diverse programs to be applied for them. As a result of this, the morbidity could be greatly reduced according to some experiences on disasters for the Nursery Corps in the Mexican Navy and the articles from magazines in which civil protection and Nursery are the main themes. At this point, nursery is considered as a profession that demans a positive attitude and skills which embrace health. Cause-effect relationship is giving a proposal for attending these cases for a short, medium and large periods. Therefore, a nurse will work as a response in case of a disaster without taking control of a common situation. Nursery goes beyond of contributing to society in a general way, it is a matter of having a unique criteria and planning for attending situations and specific cases on disasters.
