Abstract

Open education originated in Russia at the Institute of Teaching by Correspondence in 1850, and in Toussaint and Langenesehdt, Berlin with the beginning of language teaching, also by correspondence in 1856 and years later at Liber Hermonds Institute, (1889) Sweden, where by the way, currently, they serve more than 10 thousand students each year. In England, in 1967 the Open University emerged, constituted as a real option to train professionals through an institutional strategy, which through various formal and non-formal educational activities, far exceeded the previous scheme of incipient methodology, to be a model of teaching that allowed later, to base other experiences such as the National University of Distance Education in Spain and the Open University in Israel.
