The Instituto Mexicano del Seguro Social (IMSS) has been enforcing the development of directive and administrative skills, and designing up-to-date developmental programs for administrative nursing personnel. This program consists of two stages with three sequential subprograms each one. In this paper, we describe the construction and validation of an instrument called the Labor Ambience Questionnaire (LAQ), which seeks to explore the principal factors associated with administrative nurse personal and its relationship to training courses. The instrument explores six indicators: support, satisfaction, respect, efficiency and attitudes toward selfimprovement. The instrument was submitted to a conceptual validation process and obtained a 70 % internal consistency test-retest. It was concluded that the instrument is consistent and trustworthy, and may be applied to explore working nurse performance.
