Master Plan of the Interinstitutional Commission of Nursing SSA

All the countries that have required a process of reform of health system and included nursing personnel have had satisfactory results. The Health Department Office of Mexico considered this situation authorizing the conformation of the Interinstitutional Commission of Nursing. It was self-named as technical support team integrated by leaders of the educational and on health service sectors, as well as, association and professional colleges. Its purpose is to propose and recommend directives and guidelines to authorities of all those sectors, to achieve improving the attention and education’s quality in nursing. Previous to give advice, it was made a strategic analysis of the nursing situation of Mexico. The result was deficiencies in the quality on the delivery of care and inconsistency in the educational system of nursing. As an answer it was elaborated a Governing Plan of the Interinstitutional Commission of Nursing according with the health policies, the institutional characteristics and heterogeneity of the nursing situation. The Commission needed the mission and vision of the Mexican nursing and also, about itself. The goals were improving the nursing services and the health’s level of the population, professional practice and regulation of the educational system in nursing. Projects to increase the quality of the nursing attention include both in the practice and educational fields. Primarily, in the practice field: ethics code, systematized evaluation of the nursing services, professional profiles, labor activities descriptions, sufficiency of the human resource, model of organizational structure, professional civil service; professional and client satisfaction, professional certification and updating the Information System Administrative of Human Resources in Nursing. Secondly, in the quality of nursing education: regulation of the opening and operation of educational institutions, the entailment teaching-service and the impulse to certify programs and educational institutions of nursing.
