Nursing Education as a Tool for Emancipation: A Collective Commitment

Nursing education has been shaped by an educational model that reinforces power structures within the healthcare system, limiting professional autonomy and critical thinking development. This editorial examines how faculty precarization and apolitical pedagogy have contributed to the historical subordination of nursing, preventing the training of professionals capable of questioning and transforming health inequities. Based on this reflection, the Diploma in Teacher Professionalization for Nursing Educators is introduced as an initiative to promote critical analysis and participatory action research as emancipation tools. The need for a collective commitment to redefine nursing education is emphasized, reclaiming it as an autonomous and strategic field of knowledge for community health.
