Psychological test of selection vs academic performance

Introduction: the necessity of getting behaviorist in a quantitative analysis as well as predict the human behavior, favors the origin of psychometric test.
Objective: determine the congruence between the psychological test results of the selective process and the academic behavior of the students from Nursery in BC.
Methodology: cohort study. It was made a follow up during six semesters to 20 students (VR) very recommended according to the test , and 20 students (NVR) not very recommended. They were selected by convenience from the total of students VR and NVR aleatory. The academic or school behavior was composed by results from grades of subjects, number of extraordinary subjects, absentee or abandonment. They were classified in the ordinal scale: level I=Very good, Level II=Good, level III=Regular and level IV=Deficient. Descriptive and inference statistics χ2, RR and t of student was used.
Results: in first semester, 17 students NVR reached level I; 13 students VR changed to level II; in second semester, five students NVR and nine VR reached level II; in third semester seven students NVR and one VR went to level II; fourth semester: five students NVR and three VR reached level II; fifth semester: six students NVR and five VR changed to level II; sixth semester: three students VR went to level II. From first to sixth semester, there were three NVR abandonment's and six VR. 16 students NVR and 10 VR had to take extraordinaries exams. Global average 85.3 with ED=4.3 NVR group, and 87 with ED=3.4 VR group.
Conclusion: both groups got similar results during six semesters.
