Abstract

The moment in which the first programs for the formation of Associated Professional Technician (Associate Degree Nurse [ADN]) arose in the United States of America (USA), there were professional, socio-political and union organization conditions of the nurses who favored the opening of programs of this nature. Knowing from a historical perspective, its current situation and implications, as well as the problems generated, compared with the particular situation of nursing in Mexico, will allow decision-makers to have elements of judgment that allow them to decide on the application of this educational level in nursing in our country.
