Abstract

Objective: evaluate theoretical and practice knowledge that has the patient included in the program of Continues Ambulatory Peritoneal Dialysis (CAPD).

Material and methods: we evaluated 31 patients included in program of CAPD. They were previous qualified, for such effect two instruments of measuration were designed, one in order to evaluate the cognitive and another for the psychomotor area, these instruments were validated by experts. The first consists of 26 close and open questions, the second of 10 actions to carry out in the dialytic procedure.

Results: in statistical analysis was not significance between the knowledge and the realization of the practice. In the cognitive area the average of assimilation of the knowiedge was from the 82%, and the psychomotor was just the 64%.

Conclusions: the educational traditional strategy doesn't guarantee the significant knowledge, mainly in the psychomotor area, if we considered that the domain upon making the dialytic procedure should be of 100.
